Pool Noodle Light Sabers

Happy Birthday, Nolan! Typically I do birthday party ideas all in one post, but I loved these so much that I had to give them their own post!  So there will be a few Star Wars themed ideas coming up. I’m not gonna lie, I am not the first mom who’s done these before! I googled photos and found many versions, I just made them how I thought looked best. They were a big hit with the kids.

First, I bought red and blue pool noodles and cut them in half with a utility knife. I was going to spray paint them red and blue, but I ran out of time. I tend to do a little too much for birthdays, then I get overwhelmed and stressed, so decided to leave the noodles as is. Turns out, at a boys birthday party, all the kids want blue. The red (aka pink) were not so popular…

Next, I cut small pieces of silver duct tape to form a criss-cross and cover up the hollow part. I made sure to do the criss-cross on the side that I cut with the utility knife, since those sides were a little rough. Then I cut more strips of duct tape and wrapped four rows around the bottom (for the handle). Once the silver was done, I took black electrical tape and made a design similar to how the Star Wars ones look.

Finally, I added a button. You could use about anything for this. I had these little foam ribbon stickers on hand, so I cut them in to circles. I spray-painted them red, then stuck on the handle. I just LOVED them! The kids had a blast, and they were safe for some great light saber fights! Enjoy.
